Bujumbura - with a smile in poverty.

 

Bujumbura is the capital of Burundi.

The city is located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika,

about one day's drive north of Ujiji,

Tanzania (Kigoma) where Stanley and Livingston met and where Stanley spoke the famous words

"Dr. Livingstone I presume?"

With a population of over 500,000 inhabitants, 

it's a pretty busy place. 

A 10-year civil war ended in 2005,

and nearly all of the country lives in relative peace.

But these people are still smiling!

climate:

Bujumbura features a tropical savanna climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. Its wet season is from October through April, while the dry season covers the remaining five months.
